Be full-time faculty member at UHCL
Can dues-exempt member of this organization
Allowed to vote during business meetings and on the election of officers
Able to assist (or arrange for an appropriate faculty substitute) in the planning,
implementation, and sponsoring of the events held by the organization
Be responsible for and have authority over planning and conducting of the affairs of the group
Calls and presides at meetings of the Chapter and of the Executive Committee
Consult with the faculty advisor, and fellow officers
Have powers and responsibilities as precedent and reason dictate for the presiding officer of the organization
Appoint directors
Preside at meetings in the absence of the President and normally become President in the event of vacancy
Instruct directors
Consult with directors
Carry out special projects assigned by the president
Oversee and implement marketing strategies and efforts in order to strengthen AA’s recognition among UHCL students, outside companies and organizations; including but not limited to:
Maintain the AA web page and social media pages (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, UHCL Get Involved).
Create flyers for all events [speaker meetings, ARR, volunteer activities, social events, etc.]. Be responsible for the marketing of all organization’s events, including publishing flyers on website, social media pages, and on- campus bulletin boards.
Be responsible for the picture taking during every event.
Be responsible for posting picture on website and social media pages after every event.
Maintain records and send emails to all students who have expressed an interest in the club and chapter members
Maintain supplies needed for membership
Send out weekly announcements and events via email to prospective and current members about events that the Accounting Association is involved in throughout the year
Make sure that the Vice President of Service Activities and any other members as
directed by the President are made aware of any meetings
Maintain accurate membership roster and other records of the Accounting Association including:
All meetings and events of the semester
Forms of advertising and any other correspondence pertaining to the club
Write the minutes of officer meetings, and correspond for the officer when
necessary
Record and maintain points of each prospective and current member and officer throughout the entire school year
Maintain the point system to determine the winner of semester awards
Provide publicity for all speaker meetings and other events
Maintain Accounting Association bulletin board outside Accounting Suite on the 3rd floor of Bayou building and bulletin board by the Patio Café
Host community service events for members to complete their community service points requirement
Arrange and execute community service activities
Maintain a contact list of past and prospective activities
Be responsible for the oversight of finances during the term in office
Organize and keep accurate financial records, reconcile the bank statement, prepare the student organization financial statement, and arrange the audit of such records
Be prepared to report the financial position of the organization at the meetings if requested
Bill and collect all dues and fees
Receive and dispense funds with the approval of or instructions from the officers, keep financial reports
Work with and under the direction of the President
Assist the president regarding request of fund or disbursement from UHCL Activities Funding Broad
Attend UHCL Student Government Association (SGA) meetings
Serve as representative during SGA meetings for Accounting Association
Keep members informed of SGA activities
Will be appointed by the President
Work with the Vice President of Finance and/or Treasurer regarding request fund or disbursement from UHCL Student Government Association (SGA)
Assist in attaining speakers for Accounting Association speaker meetings
Follow up with a thank you letter to guest speakers and to the UHCL faculty in attendance
Attend IMA meetings when possible and report back to members in the event of a vacancy of the IMA Representative Officer.
Write invitation letters to each member of the accounting faculty prior to a guest speaker's meeting to publicize it
Assist with annual Accounting Recruiters’ Reception by booking employer/recruiter contacts
Maintain relation with speakers by building professional contact list
Attend the Houston Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) meetings and report back to its members.
Serve as representative during IMA meetings for UHCL Accounting Association
Keep members informed of IMA activities
Will be reimbursed for any expenditure incurred to attend the IMA meetings. Sufficient documentation confirming the expenditure may also be required to be submitted to and approved by both President and Vice President of Finance.
